I can’t believe we’re already a month into a new year!  Where did 2006 go?  It seemed to fly by!  Of course, I guess making a big international move had a little something to do with that.

We’ve had major things happening in these few beginning weeks of the year - wind, heat, fire, death.  There haven’t been many “quiet” days.  It’s felt at times like living in a war zone - certainly spiritually, if not physically.  You can almost feel the battle raging for the hearts and minds of people.  The enemy is at work, but God is the victor.

When the year began, I found myself praying and asking the Lord about what this year held in store.  There seemed to be lots of possibilities, a few certainties, and many questions.  I felt He spoke the verse at the bottom into my heart.  What a comfort to know that He’s with us, and He doesn’t fail.

I am a detailed, organized person.  I like to have “my ducks in a row.”  I like to know what’s around the corner so I can get ready and be prepared.  The last two years have been full of change, new beginnings…….and uncertainty. Uncertainty is hard for me, but, through the years, I’ve learned to be more flexible.  And I can be secure because of trusting the one who is our Rock!

A whole new year with lots of possibilities - and one absolute certainty……..He is with us!!

“It is the Lord who goes before you; he will be with you, he will not fail you.”  Deut. 31:8

In the Jewish calendar this is the year of the clashing of swords… (and it’s Israel’s 40th birthday. I’m thinking of Israel because I just found an Israeli flag outside our offices here in Calgary, just washed it up and it’s hanging to dry as I type).

God gives me a one word focus for every year. Last number of years those words have been: centred; grounded; launched; transition; velocity; grace; stop and now in 2007 - Release!

I have built many ministry five year plans for churches and large global ministries… this season is much different. The Spirit won’t give me a map. I am in a new territory with my gut instinct… the raw relationship with the Father, through the Son, in the Spirit.

We are amidst a huge kingdom shift. It is a season of impartation… of giving it all away - on the way! Not having to know the way. Giving everything away as soon as it is received - a bit like manna. Finally not being the cartographer. I am done with drawing out maps and destinations. Having to go with the heart… his heart.. like wild horses running free…. under the “reign” of the king. His “reigns” on our hearts.

Here in Alberta since the beginning of this year our wild horses have been dying or being killed… literally. We have a lot of wild horses around the mountains here and their being shot mysteriously and dying of strange causes. Just out of the blue a huge wave of lawlessness seemingly everywhere.

And on this next leg of the journey, some of us have been promised that we will be gatekeepers of wealth… and there is a deep test happening in these days… the promises have been heavenly and obvious and many greedy proud leaders are pushing the boundaries of those promises and they are being exposed, their awful hearts surfacing… it isn’t pretty. God have mercy on us all. God will set many bad hearts aside. He is testing our hearts doing that deep surgury. He will set many aside with honour…. like Noah’s sons covering over his nakedness… God will retire many rough and tumble kingdom leaders who were able to stand up until now, but they won’t stand now.

    A chain smoker can’t run a marathon.

You and me both, Sally! I like having my ducks in a row, too. And I agree with you that trusting in our Rock, Jesus, helps us to weather the storms and changes in life.
I’m following your blog with great interest as S.Africa (and Africa in general) has had my heart for years. I also considered moving there at one point but never got the “green light” from the Lord.
I’m still at Heidebeek after my few years in A’dam with MFM… making a grand total of 25 years in YWAM so far.
Your blog is insightful and candid. Thanks for taking the time to write.
    Blessings, Belinda

What Others Say

If we neglect what we have to grieve what we have lost, at some point grieving becomes an indulgence.
